An evening of networking, inspiration, and industry insights at the Merewether Surfhouse.
A Legacy of Connection
Since its inception in 2015, Cocktail Connections has grown to become the flagship networking event for the Newcastle University Women in Engineering (NUWiE) society. What started as a small gathering has evolved into a high-impact evening that bridges the gap between the classroom and the professional world.
Held annually, this year at the iconic Merewether Surfhouse, the event provides a unique, relaxed environment where students can engage in meaningful conversations with industry leaders without the pressure of a formal interview. Over the last decade, Cocktail Connections has been the starting point for hundreds of internships, graduate positions, and lifelong mentorships within the Hunter region's engineering community.
"Cocktail Connections isn't about handing out resumes; it's about building the community that will support our students throughout their entire careers."
The Northrop x NUWiE Story
For the past several years, Northrop has been a cornerstone of the Cocktail Connections experience. Their unwavering commitment to diversity in engineering has allowed us to keep this event accessible to all students. From providing keynote speakers to offering direct mentorship on the night, Northrop continues to empower the next generation of female engineers in our region.
